Fatih Erden, PhD Fatih Erden completed his primary and secondary education in Ankara and Istanbul. He graduated from Naval High School (Heybeliada) in 1996 and from the Turkish Naval Academy (Tuzla) in 2000, earning degrees as a Naval Officer and Electrical and Electronics Engineer.

He held various significant positions throughout his naval career:
2000-2002: Navigation Officer, TCG Çubuklu (hydrographic research ship)
2002-2004: Executive Officer, TCG AB-28 (patrol craft)
2004-2008: Head of the System Department, Guided Missile Test Station Command/Umuryeri
2008-2010: Guided Missile Project Officer, Naval Headquarters
2010-2024: Faculty Member, Electronics Engineering Department, Turkish Naval Academy
2024-2025: Promoted to Rear Admiral (LH) and served as the Deputy General Director, General Directorate of Naval Shipyards
2025-present: Full Professor, Turkish Naval Academy
2025-present: Director, Office of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography, Turkish Navy.

On November 21, 2018, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering by the Interuniversity Board of Türkiye. He was appointed as a full professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering on August 14, 2025.

He has supervised 11 master’s theses and 1 doctoral thesis in electromagnetics and has been actively involved in delivering lectures, conferences, and seminars domestically and internationally. His scholarly contributions include 1 international book chapter, over 20 scientific articles, and more than 30 conference proceedings. He also led a TÜBİTAK project as Principal Investigator.

Erden’s research interests include time-domain solutions of electromagnetics and underwater acoustics, as well as Evolutionary Approach to Electromagnetics (EAE) and computational algorithms for solving electromagnetic scattering problems. He is a senior member of both IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and URSI (Union Radio Scientifique Internationale), and a member of the Italian Society of Electromagnetism (SIEm).

Professor Erden served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Naval Sciences and Engineering from 2022 to 2024 and remains an active referee for numerous international scientific journals and conferences.
